Gretna Middle's Schoolwide Spelling Bee

On Wednesday, January 31, 2024 Gretna Middle School sixth, seventh and eighth grade students participated in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The students were given words to spell from materials prepared by the Scripps National Spelling Bee program. Students displayed knowledge learned throughout their school experience while competing for top honors. 
Haley Yowell, a sixth grader, claimed first place and Caleigh Jack, a sixth grader, was the second place winner. The following students also earned their way into the final round of the school spelling bee: Cooper Baker, Rosalyn Canare, Jaiden Childress, Ti’Reque Clardy, Zy’Keir Clark, Anthony Fitzgerald, Lillian Hart, Ryne Ireson, Alysa Johnson, Lacie Lewis, Andrew Perkins, Taniyah Reaves, Carter Taylor, Kaylen Taylor and Gracie Tuck.
Haley and Caleigh will participate in the Danville Area Spelling Bee, which will be held at Averett University on Saturday, March 16, 2024.
