A team of six students from GMS competed in the first region-wide GO TEC VEX Robotics Competition at the Institute of Advanced Learning & Research Wednesday April 19, 2023. The GMS VEX team consisted of 8th grader Evan Orlowski, 7th graders- Kain Stallings-Perry, Sophia Duley, Christian Childress, 6th graders- Nicholas Doss and Rayna Creasy and coached by Christy Shelton, GO TEC Career Connections Teacher.  The team practiced for over 6 weeks after school to prepare for the event.  At the competition, teams competed to score points by maneuvering their robot around the course, removing disks from various dispensers, and finally pushing disks across a score line, while having a one minute time limit.  Among 12 teams at the event, GMS VEX team finished with a 2nd Place finish in overall points.  It was a great time for students to collaborate with other students and have fun in an interactive competitive learning environment.
